The Adaro “Dangsanak” Festival, which was held by the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation with various activities and competitions, from Sunday to Saturday (13/12), in Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan, received a warm welcome from local residents.
The representative of the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation (YABN) Zuraida Saputri in Tanjung said the Adaro “Dangsanak” (Banjar language: relatives/family) community had been formed for a long time, consisting of the foundation’s fostered partners, both in Tabalong, Balangan to East Barito.
“Today we are inaugurating the opening of the Adaro Dangsanak Festival. Previously, this community had also carried out various activities that were guided by YABN, including in Tabalong in the form of the Community-Based Total Sanitation Program (STBM),” explained Zuraida.
The STBM program began to be implemented by YABN in 2012 considering that community access to proper sanitation facilities was still very lacking, he said.
Meanwhile, the Adaro Dangsanak Festival which was held for one week in the courtyard of the Bersinar Pendopo, was opened by the Head of the Tabalong Social, Tourism and Culture Office, Yuhani.
In his remarks, Yuhani said that through festivals with activities, such as performances of Dayak traditional culture, it is a place to preserve local culture as well as popularize local traditions to the community.
Several agendas were held at the festival, including science olympiads for elementary and junior high school levels, Dayak cultural deliberations and various other performances.
Through this science olympiad, YABN hopes to prepare children from elementary to junior high school to become future scientists.
Previously, the Adaro Bangun Negeri Foundation also launched a science experiment book made from local materials, the result of the creativity of science teachers in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan Provinces in 2013.
