Happy National Batik Day! Today, Thursday (2/10/2014) is celebrated as National Batik Day. Many office workers also wear batik to commemorate the stipulation of the motif as Indonesia’s original heritage. Almost all Indonesians have at least one batik outfit in their closet, including hijabers. Here’s how hijabers look beautiful with batik.
1. Dian Pelangi
Dian Pelangi wore a pleated skirt with batik material to give a fairly thick traditional impression. Apart from National Batik Day, you can use it when you go abroad or come to cultural events. The style of this young designer with the real name Dian Wahyu Utami is suitable to be combined in the afternoon during the summer. The batik skirt has made the appearance look ‘full’ so there is no need to add a series of accessories such as a statement necklace or apply a patterned hijab.
2. Risty Tagor
Batik is also often applied to weddings. As applied by the beautiful actress Risty Tagor, she wears batik when she goes to a wedding. He combined the batik with a long satin skirt. Just complete it with a simple hijab style and a matching color clutch for a matching look.
3. Lulu Elhasbu
A former Muslim model who is now a designer, Lulu Elhasbu, looks beautiful in a black-brown batik skirt. Batik skirts are more appropriate to be combined with plain tops or those with similar motifs like the skirt. Lulu combined the skirt with a plain white blouse, Turkish hijab style, and a long necklace. This dress is suitable to be combined with a wedding or attending other formal events.
Another Muslim fashion designer who also wears batik is Jenahara. Unlike the others, the woman who is often called Jehan looks beautiful wearing a brownish black batik scarf. Batik can also be used as a head covering. Combine the scarf with plain clothes so as not to seem piled up.
5. Ria Miranda
Ria Miranda also wears batik cloth as a skirt when celebrating Eid al-Fitr. The designer, who is known for his pastel clothes, looks feminine using batik cloth and a tosca blouse that has a touch of golden detail. Just mix and match a simple hijab style so it doesn’t seem too overwhelming when you want to look elegant at an important event.
6. Aisyah Haerani
Aisyah Haerani uses batik cloth which is also used as a skirt. The winner of the 2013 Hijab Hunt completed her outfit with a red blazer that also had a touch of batik on the wrist. To beautify her appearance, the woman who is familiarly called Icha created her hijab style using a red scarf.
