The total expenditure of domestic tourists who traveled to all provinces in the country until the first semester of 2014 reached Rp. 76.16 trillion.

“Until the first semester of 2014, the number of domestic tourist trips has reached 107 million with a total expenditure of Rp. 76.16 trillion,” said Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Mari Pangestu, in Jakarta, Monday.

According to him, with this achievement, the target of 255 million domestic tourists by the end of 2014 is optimistic that it will be achieved. Various arts, culture, and tourism events in various provinces have also become the main attraction, both nationally and internationally, which are packaged in tour packages and promoted by various media.

“To increase the number of domestic tourists, direct promotions in key markets also need to be carried out, including cooperation with airlines,” he said.

His party noted that the tourism sector and the creative economy are one of the sources of national economic growth.

The growth rate of tourism GDP until the middle of 2014 reached 6.86 percent or higher than the national economic growth rate of 5.17 percent.

Overall, the contribution of tourism to GDP based on current prices throughout the first semester has reached IDR 136.76 trillion.

“Most of it came from the contribution of the restaurant sector of Rp. 104.06 trillion, followed by hospitality of Rp. 19.51 trillion and entertainment of Rp. 13.18 trillion of recreation,” he said.
