Dance Function
The role of dance to meet human needs is through individual, social and communication stimulants. Thus, dance in meeting individual and social needs is a tool used to convey the expression of the soul in relation to environmental interests. Therefore, dance can act as worship, a means of communication, and a statement of the human mind in relation to the expression of will. Broadly speaking, there are 4 functions of dance, among others:

1. dance as a ceremony.
the function of dance as a means of ceremony is part of a tradition that exists in a society’s life which is hereditary in nature from generation to generation to the present which functions as a ritual. The characteristics of dance for ceremonies include being held at a certain place and time, being sacred and magical, having offerings, being carried out in open and mass places, living and developing in a strong tradition as a means for offerings, as a means of worshiping gods, being together and being together. repeatedly, those who come are considered participants of the ceremony not spectators and are danced by selected dancers and are considered sacred.

2. dance as a means of entertainment
one form of dance creation intended only to be watched. This dance has the purpose of personal entertainment, more concerned with enjoyment in dancing

3. dance as a means of performance
Performance dance is a form of communication so that there is a messenger and a message recipient. This dance is more concerned with aesthetic form than its purpose. This dance is more worked out according to the needs of the local community

4. dance as a means of education
dance that is used for educational facilities by teaching in formal schools.
